Community Event Day – Spring 2015

Twice each year, we celebrate our Commitment to Community by hosting a special Community Event Day! On Community Event Day, each of our 41 stores chooses a local nonprofit organization, like Cub Scout Pack 92 (above), to support by hosting a cookout, and donating 100% of the proceeds from the sale of specially priced hot dogs and pop. Members of the selected organizations set up informational tables and visit with customers to spread the word about their cause. In some cases there are raffles, prize wheels, or live demonstrations.

On May 9th, 2015 the organizations participating at our 41 locations raised over $12,000!

Here are some highlights from our most recent Community Event Day:

Supporters of the Wounded Warrior Project® at our location in Shop City, Syracuse. Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) serves veterans and service members who incurred a physical or mental injury, illness, or wound, co-incident to their military service on or after September 11, 2001 and their families.

Precious Paws Animal Rescue at our location in the Del-Ton Plaza in Tonawanda, NY. Their organization is an all volunteer nonprofit cat and kitten shelter and adoption facility.

The Arc of Erie County Pennsylvania at our location in Erie, PA. Their organization provides advocacy and support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.

Girl Scouts at our location in North Syracuse. We would like to thank each and every local organization that spent their Saturday with us for Community Event Day! We sincerely enjoy putting on these events for local charitable efforts, and we welcome new organizations for each event! If your non-profit club, group, or organization would like to be part of our next Community Event Day, please visit your local Valu store and ask to speak with a member of our Management Team.
