Rubber Band Painted Jars

Guest blog by The Valu Home Centers Team of North Tonawanda, NY

Add some flair to a glass jar by wrapping it in rubber bands and spray painting it!

Here’s what you need to get started:

  • Mason jars
  • Assorted spray paint (we used Krylon Glitter Blast)
  • Rubber bands (variables in thickness are helpful)
  • Tea lights

Take the rubber bands and place them around your mason jars at varying heights to create a masked area.

By painting the jars and removing the rubber bands, you have a beautiful piece to add a touch of light to your home decor.

We chose to use tea lights to illuminate the jars. Real candles are another option, just be be careful to not leave them unattended. We even used one of the decorated jars for a brush/pencil holder.

This project has many customizable options, in terms of the items you used to mask off the unpainted areas. Feel free to experiment with blue painters tape, yarn, and rubber bands. These accent lights also make a great start to a table scape for entertaining as we continue into the new year. With our wide variety of spray paint options, coupled with some creative masking, these jars can be customized to fit any decor style.

We would love to see photos of your finished project!

Share with us on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter and we’ll re-post photos for all of our fans to see. You never know who you’ll inspire to get started on their next DIY endeavor!
