Valu Home Centers Donates Totes For Timmy’s Battle

Have you heard about Timmy’s Battle?

Timothy Richardson is a 16-year old Maryvale High School student in Cheektowaga, NY who is a firefighter in training at Hy-View Fire Company. This young man is bravely fighting leukemia, and has asked fire halls around the country to send him shirts with their colors as a show of support in his fight. He was hoping to receive 30 shirts, one to wear during each day of his treatment.

Since the call went out, Timmy has received more than 3,000 shirts.

In fact, he has received so many shirts that they won’t fit in his hospital room any longer, so in addition to facilitating these donations, U-Crest Fire Dept #4 & Hyview Fire Co. Explorer Post # 88 are stepping up to help sort and store his collection! Timmy’s dad is a firefighter at U-Crest, and Timmy himself is a new recruit at Hy-View, so this mission hits close to home for all involved.

U-Crest tagged Valu Home Centers in when they needed storage totes for the safekeeping of Timmy’s shirts, and we were happy to answer the call.

Pictured here is the Team at our Dick Rd. location in Cheektowaga presenting U-Crest with 20 totes (in festive green for St. Patrick’s Day) and a $200 Valu gift card for any more supplies they might need. We are so proud to be a part of this incredible community effort to support a local family.

Our partners at WGRZ – Channel 2, Buffalo were on site to share this great story with their viewers.
