On Friday, October 14th the Habitat for Humanity ReStore in Buffalo, NY celebrated their annual Artfest & DIY Contest.
We are proud to have been the presenting sponsor of this exciting artistic event, where local DIY enthusiasts competed to create the most original piece of art using ReStore materials!
There were pieces to suit all tastes, from rustic woodwork to elegant modern styles.
All of the finished pieces were sold in a silent auction to raise money to further Habitat’s mission to provide decent, affordable housing to those in need. ReStore is a retail outlet selling new and gently used household items including furniture, appliances, building materials, and more! Proceeds from the sale of goods go directly to Habitat for Humanity of Buffalo to build more houses for low-income families in the Buffalo area. This great event, held right inside the South Buffalo ReStore, drew quite the crowd! Guests surveyed all of the pieces, placed their bids, and chose their favorite artwork.
We were glad to have the opportunity to get to know more members of our local DIY community!
We had a display table set up with our full line of craft paints and stains from brands you trust, like Krylon, Rust-Oleum, and Minwax. This gave us the chance to talk to all of the crafters and hobbyists who came to the event about their favorite finishes, colors, and more! Mitch Graham, our Paint Buyer, was on site to answer questions and get feedback for future product lines.
Buffalo area upcycling enthusiast, and frequent contributor to the Valu blog, Jackie Hausler of Haus2Home transformed several ReStore pieces.
You could tell that she really put her skills to work! Her dog palace (pictured above) took first place for the pallet category. Congrats, Jackie!
Congratulations to Habitat for Humanity of Buffalo, and all of the talented artisans who entered pieces in the auction, on an amazing event!
