The team at our North Tonawanda, NY Valu Home Centers location decided that this Christmas, they wanted to give back.
The store team writes, "We wanted to give a little follow up on our winter community service partnership with the YWCA. This year we adopted a couple families that are in a Crisis Services Program that helps protect women and children from domestic violence situations."
Valu Home Centers partnered with the YWCA of the Niagara Frontier to provide 2 anonymous families with gifts, as well as gift cards to help provide for a Christmas dinner.
The first family includes a 5-year-old daughter, 3-year-old son, 2-year-old daughter, and a mom. The second family includes one daughter 16 months, a grandmother that is helping to raise her daughters young family and the 23-year-old mom.
One of our managers writes, "It has been a real eye-opener for all of us as some of the requests are for basic necessities that we take for granted including clothing and a stroller for a mom whose primary mode of transportation is to walk to her destinations. Our entire store has wrapped their arms around these two families as if they were our own. We're excited to see the entire thing come together as we get to share the magic of Christmas with some others that may not otherwise get to take advantage of this special season."
For more than 100 years, the YWCA of the Niagara Frontier has worked towards eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all.
