Build Your Own DIY Pallet Christmas Tree

For this project, you will need:

Sand Paper if needed
Paint brushes
Pallet with slats evenly spaced
Rust-Oleum Painter's Touch paint in White
Rust-Oleum Painter's Touch paint in Green
Rust-Oleum Painter's Touch paint in Brown
Krylon Glitter Blast spray paint in Gold
4 Paint stirring sticks
1 string of 20' Christmas lights
4” piece of furring strip

Optional:

Krylon Glitter Blast spray paint in green
Ornaments
Remote Controlled Light Show

Sand your pallet to prep to paint the Christmas tree

Step 1: Prepare your pallet to be painted

Sand your pallet smooth if needed and paint white using your Rust-Oleum Painter's Touch paint. Let it dry completely.

Step 2: Paint your tree on your pallet

Lay out your tree design. Paint your tree shape using your green Rust-Oleum Painter's Touch paint, and feather the edges to add a branch look. Make the top of your tree end on the last slat of the pallet, and the bottom of the tree just barely on the first slat on the pallet. If you're feeling festive, use Krylon Glitter Blast spray paint in green to really make your tree sparkle.

Step 3: Create your star for the top of the tree

Cut your paint stirring sticks down to about 6 inches. Layer the sticks turning each new stick about 60 degrees, and add a drop of glue in between each layer. Let the glue dry for about 20 minutes, and spray paint with Krylon Glitter Blast spray paint in gold.

Step 4: Make your tree trunk

Cut a 4" piece of furring strip and paint it brown using Rust-Oleum Multicolor Textured spray paint in brown. Let it dry completely.

Step 5: Drill pilot holes and attach the trunk

Pre-drill your trunk and star so that they don't split when you nail or screw them on to your pallet.

Step 6: Add your lights

Find the center of your 100-light string (20.6 ft.). Beginning at the top (with 5/16" staples) staple your lights to the tree outline in a criss-cross pattern, ending at the base of the tree. Be careful not to staple into your light strand wire!

Step 7: Admire your work!

Add ornaments and decorations to taste. Voilà! You have a pallet Christmas tree!
