Autumn is the BEST time of year for crafty DIY projects. Grab a mug of hot apple cider and let us show you how to turn a basic welcome mat into something truly special with Krylon spray paint!
Let’s get started! Here’s what you’ll need:
- Multy solid color welcome mat (any size)
- Krylon ColorMaster Paint + Primer (2 different colors)
- Leaf stencil
Step 1: Prep
Find an open, ventilated area to paint your mat. We chose to go outside. It’s now time to create your stencil. Feel free to print our leaf stencil, or make your own! If you want a more geometric design, painter’s tape is a great alternative.
Step 2: Paint
Pick a color to start with and spray away! If you’re unfamiliar with basic spray paint technique, check out our quick guide. We chose to paint outside on an uncommonly windy day, so if we were to do the project again we would probably tape some cardboard around the stencil to reinforce it.
Step 3: Dry
The mat will absorb some paint and make the dry time quicker than it would be on a smooth surface. We still recommend playing it safe and waiting a few hours before using the mat.
