Valu Crew Women’s Build With Habitat for Humanity Buffalo

On July 22th, women from the Valu Home Centers team worked together to help build the 300th Habitat for Humanity house in Buffalo, NY!

The ladies of Valu Crew spent the day installing vinyl siding, alongside members of Habitat for Humanity and the future homeowners of this great house!

Valu Home Centers has been a proud partner of Habitat for Humanity for 25 years.

We are excited to celebrate the long-standing relationship between Valu Home Centers and Habitat for Humanity with our 2017 Celebration Through Service! Thanks to the generosity of our customers, the dedication of our cashiers, and the advocacy of our media partners, Valu Home Centers has raised and donated over $3.5 million in the last 24 years. We support 19 different Habitat for Humanity affiliates, so that our donors know they are giving where the live. When you donate to our annual Habitat for Humanity fundraiser, Valu Home Centers covers the administrative costs so that 100% of the funds raised go directly toward decent, affordable housing for all.

Wende Street holds a special place in our hearts, because it was the site of our first Valu Crew volunteer event.

Valu Crew is a community engagement program that gives every member of the Valu Home Centers team to put their knowledge in action through service. Back in August of 2016, these homes were foundations with a lot of work ahead of them. Our Valu Crew volunteers spent their day putting in floor joists, resetting fill dirt, and taking on other tasks to help with construction. You can read more about the event and see photos here.

Are you interested in volunteering with Habitat for Humanity?

Habitat for Humanity is always seeking volunteers. No matter your skill level, or how much time you are able to commit, there is a project waiting for you! Did you know that Habitat homeowners complete hundreds of hours of sweat equity working to build their new house? That means you’ll sometimes be working right beside the family who will be living in the home once it’s completed. Visit the Habitat for Humanity International website, and search for your zip code to sign up today.
